Yamaha has officially entered India’s electric two-wheeler space with the launch of the EC-06, priced at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi). That makes it Rs 21,601 more expensive than the River Indie (priced at Rs 1,45,999 ex-showroom), the scooter on which it is based. But this isn’t just a badge-engineered exercise. Instead, Yamaha has taken a proven electric platform and reworked it quite a bit. While the River Indie remains the practical, utility-first avatar of this platform, the EC-06 positions itself as the more premium and design-led alternative.
